About the Hackathon
Google Development Group, Code for Tucson, and UA Libraries are proud to present the 2nd annual Women Techmakers Tucson Hackathon on October 22–23 at the University of Arizona's Science and Engineering Library.
Join us for a weekend of food, fun, learning, and hacking! This free event provides an opportunity for women of all levels of technical expertise to collaboratively develop tech-driven projects over the course of two days.
All women are encouraged to attend — no computer programming experience required! And projects are never built by ones and zeros alone — designers, product managers, community organizers, writers, and YOU are very much welcome!
We are still finalizing this year's schedule and workshops. However, feel free to check out last year's schedule at the bottom of this page!

What is a hackathon?
An event for women of all different technical expertise to come together to develop awesome tech-driven projects over a short time period.
"Hacking" sounds illegal/shady?
Definitely not! Well, this kind of hacking is not. This hackathon provides the space for women to collaborate and work on ideas together.
Is it going to cost me a fortune to attend?
The entire event is FREE!
Do I need extensive hacking/tech skills to participate?
Not at all! Women of all technical expertise and levels are encouraged to attend. No programming experience needed.
I see that your event has workshops... Do those cost extra to attend?
They are free! Workshops are available free of cost to registered attendees. Workshop topics cover a variety of tech-related topics, and are led by super-talented women too!
Why the asterisk on women*?
The word "women" can seem exclusive and alienating to some. We use the asterisk to include anyone who identifies as cis-women, trans*, inter and queer people who identify as women.
Do I need to bring anything?
A laptop is recommended. Don't have one? No worries! Just bring your awesome self.
Do I have to stay all day on both days?
Nope! Stay as long as you like, and come and go as you please.
Will there be prizes?
Heck yeah! Prizes in several categories, too (again, you don't have to be a coder to participate).
So... do you think I should attend?
Heck yes! This is a great opportunity to network and collaborate with women techies of all levels. Also, this is your chance to bring your cool app idea, website idea, or product idea to life.
I can't contain myself. How do I sign up?
I thought you'd ask! Register here on Meetup.
